The types of Infractions that sent most students to the Safe Haven as as follows:

·         Hitting a security officer,

·         Fighting over a seat at lunch

·         Bringing a toy gun to school

·         Girl fights

·         Consuming alcoholic beverages

·         Disrespecting peers, adults and one’s self

We are seeking support for year 2 for an opportunity to continue this much needed support for our children.

Commitment to Youth Development
THE SAFE HAVEN is
an alternative program for students suspended from their school.   The program   supports students and their families partnership with each school's principal.

Students are recommended by the school principal. Parents demonstrate their support by signing the a registration agreement along with their student. The parent is expected to make arrangements for their child to arrive on time and to be picked-up at the end of the day. Transportation is not currently available for students not living within walking distance.

Each student is expected to arrive with a homework packet that will be completed during their suspension. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens is used as the core cirriculum for behavior coaching.

The program is managed by the Board of Directors of Enhancement Ministries, Inc.

The Safe Haven is made possible through gifts from the Cleveland Foundation, Third Federal Foundation, Austin Memorial Foundation and the people of the United Methodist Church.
